This whimsical necklace is variation on a Schwibbogen, a traditional holiday decoration from the Ore Mountain region of Saxony, Germany. Traditionally, the miners of the region would go weeks during the winter without seeing daylight, due to the fact that they worked long hours below ground in the mountains. The original Schwibbogens were created to symbolize the longing that the miners for daylight during the hard winter months.
