2 Day Weaving Workshop - From Beginning to End
Setting up and weaving on a 4‑shaft loom
In this 2‑day workshop, you’ll learn every step of the weaving process - from a simple spool of yarn to a finished handwoven piece of cloth. It’s a wonderful deep‑dive for anyone who wants to understand the full craft of weaving and gain confidence working independently on a loom.
What to expect:
You’ll begin by choosing your colours from a selection of organic cotton yarns. I’ll guide you through measuring your warp on the warping mill and then take you step‑by‑step through the complete process of setting up a 4‑shaft loom. Once the warp is on the loom, the weaving can begin. You’ll work with a simple pattern so you can focus on finding a steady weaving rhythm.
During the workshop, you’ll weave a piece of cloth approximately 150 cm long and 30 cm wide. If you prefer, you can divide the warp to create several smaller pieces instead of one long length.
A note about the workshop
This course is fairly intensive. Setting up and threading the loom takes up one of the two days and can be physically demanding, especially on the back. I recommend this workshop for those who are considering buying a loom, want to continue weaving in the future, or already own a loom and would like to learn how to set it up properly.
If you’re looking for a gentler introduction to weaving, please take a look at my “Just Weave” 1‑day workshop, where you can enjoy weaving on a loom that has already been fully prepared for you.
